psoriasis treatment

A bearded man washes his hair and beard, covered in white lather up to his chin. He stares intently ahead, his hands in his lathered hair. Dark tattoo on his left upper arm, bare chest with chest hair.

95 per cent of people affected by psoriasis suffer from common psoriasis (plaque psoriasis or psoriasis vulgaris). It is recognisable by the round or oval, reddened and scaly patches on the skin’s surface. These skin changes can occur all over the body; however, the most commonly affected areas are the scalp, the elbows, the backs of the knees, the lower back and the anal folds.

The formation of such patches is due to the epidermis renewing itself too quickly. The cells in the patches renew themselves in just 8 days, whereas this process takes 28 days in healthy skin. The incomplete keratinisation process results in silvery, shiny scales. The affected areas of skin dry out and cracks and bleeding may occur.

The condition usually progresses in flare-ups, alternating with quieter phases. During acute flare-ups, severe itching may also occur.

This special hair care range from INsight helps to alleviate these symptoms.
