against striae (stretch marks)
Your skin changes dramatically during pregnancy. Now, skincare is particularly important! Leading doctors answered our questions:
QUESTION: Can I use vitamin A during pregnancy?
YES, ‘ Environ ’ may be used externally during pregnancy. Environ Vitamin A, C, E body oil helps combat stretch marks.
Things to avoid: You must absolutely avoid acid treatments, laser treatments and ultrasound treatments during this time. Retinol should also be avoided. Food supplements containing vitamin A are off-limits until after you have finished breastfeeding. Don’t worry, pigmentation changes during pregnancy can be gently covered with cosmetics.
Key facts:
- Vitamin A applied to the skin remains in the skin and does not enter the bloodstream. It makes the skin more elastic and supple.
- Vitamin A skincare products are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Humans do not have an enzyme system that transfers vitamin A from the skin into the bloodstream.
- During the first 12 weeks, your whole body is undergoing a dramatic adjustment to new demands. This can result in all kinds of skin conditions, ranging from dryness to inflammation. Continue with a slightly reduced intake of vitamin A.
- Avoid direct sunlight. This destroys vitamin A and your stretched skin is now particularly sensitive.
- Massage the vitamin A body oil into your skin daily to prevent stretch marks. (Please note: Bi-Oil is unfortunately too weak.)
- Apply vitamin A oils daily to combat stretch marks.
- Vitamin A serums are completely safe and nourish your skin during periods when your vitamin A intake is lower.
WARNINGS:
- Avoid vitamin A, retinol and food supplements until you have finished breastfeeding.
- Infants should in the first 6 months never be exposed to direct sunlight!
- Ensure your diet includes a moderate natural vitamin A intake (carrots, etc.) NO FOOD SUPPLEMENTS CONTAINING VITAMIN A!
- Never overheat your abdomen; keep it at normal body temperature.

Caesarean section is a common method of delivery, accounting for 25% of births
Unfortunately, this method leaves a long scar that requires care. Even conditioning the skin beforehand with vitamin A brings about significant improvements in the scar tissue. Visit our Scar Reduction category for targeted caesarean section scar reduction.
Stretch marks on the breasts and stomach can be prevented, or at least minimised, even during pregnancy. Even after childbirth, this product is 100% safe for both mother and child. The darker the skin, the greater the tendency to develop striae. With this product, you can keep this pigmentation change under control. Stretch marks can also appear on the thighs and stomach following significant weight loss. These light-coloured marks are not only aesthetically unappealing but also provide reduced protection against UV rays. This cream supports the tissue and normalises pigmentation. IMPORTANT: Darker skin in particular is more prone to stretch marks, known as striae. This cream helps with prevention and recovery. Key ingredients: Palmitoyl hexapeptide-12 is a mixture of fat and amino acids that triggers a reaction in the skin which stimulates collagen and elastin fibroblasts. Ceramide-2is a waxy lipid that helps your skin retain moisture and prevent the breakdown of collagen, which is an important structural component of your skin. Cocoa butter (together with shea butter) prevents dryness and is a rich source of antioxidants. It soothes and softens the skin. Aloe vera is a common ingredient in skincare products that soothes and moisturises the skin. We use it often because it is a fantastic ingredient.
Information leaflet on scar care Dear patients and relatives If you cut yourself or undergo surgery, it takes a while for the wound to heal and a scar to form. Depending on the cause of the scar and the initial treatment, visible scar tissue develops. It can take up to two years for the skin to return to a reasonably normal state. In the case of burn scars, initial treatment plays a crucial role. Immediate, moderate cooling and the provision of vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene optimise the chances of minimising scar tissue. Third-degree burns are also particularly dangerous because excessive fluid intake can be life-threatening. With every scar, the skin attempts to heal itself and begins to lose excessive amounts of water. The more water is lost, the more excess collagen is produced. If too much collagen is formed, this causes raised scars or hypertrophic scars, as the collagen attempts to thicken this part of the skin to reduce water loss. If the scar is not treated at all, a keloid scar may form. If you have suffered from acne, many small scars often remain. These can be improved in all cases once the inflamed skin has calmed down. Scars never disappear completely, but optimising them is important not only for aesthetic reasons but also for medical ones. Although the focus of surgery is on closing the scars, optimal pre- and post-operative care makes all the difference here too. We’ll show you how scars, regardless of their origin or age, can be improved. We’ll even show you how to prepare for planned scar areas. We also give experts a chance to have their say. Kind regardsDaniel Staeger and teamcareconcept General agents

Striae are also atrophic scars They are caused by insufficient formation of connective tissue. The term ‘atrophy’ refers to a process of regression. In the case of atrophic scars, although the wound closes after healing, the skin does not produce enough new connective tissue to fill the wound. This results in sunken scars, the base of which lies deeper than the surrounding skin. These scars are therefore usually flat and appear as small dimples. The wound tends to heal poorly, as the formation of new connective tissue fibres is insufficient. The sunken scar therefore lies below skin level, which is particularly the case with acne scars. Stretch marks in bodybuilders or pregnancy stretch marks are also atrophic scars.
