Theophile Berthon
The Oil Mill and Soap Factory Théophile Berthon was founded at the end of the 19th century in the heart of the French Provence in Salon de Provence.
Olive cultivation and the trade in its oil are one of the most important resources of the inhabitants of Salon. With this raw material, the town then followed in the footsteps of Marseille and into the manufacture of soap according to the rules codified since 1688 by the Edict of Colbert. The emblem of this era is the genuine Savon de Marseille cube 300G in PURE OLIVE MARSEILLE SOAP, which we offer as a handy 100g soap. Only olive and no preservatives.
OUR KETTLE MANUFACTURING METHOD
Saponification in the kettle by a master artisan soap maker is one of our skills. Traditionally used for the production of hard soaps, we have adapted it to the production of our liquid soaps, whose washing base consists of 80 % olive oil and 20 % coconut oil during saponification.
“Saponification is a chemical transformation in which fatty substances are hydrolysed in an alkaline medium by a base, potash, at a temperature between 80 and 100 °C. The soap master patiently transforms this mixture into soap, a non-aggressive cleansing product, because it is naturally accompanied by a "soft principle", glycerine. »
We have known the owners and operators of Theophile Berthon personally since 2012 and vouch for the quality of the products. Continuously developed and yet remained true to the origin of the saponification and processing of olives.
Organic quality at fair prices, short transport routes and very sustainable for your skin and the environment.

Effects and properties of olive extracts: Products containing olive oil reduce fine expression lines and provide the skin with sufficient moisture. Like no other oil, olive oil closely resembles the natural fats of the stratum corneum. It penetrates the skin very effectively and locks in moisture. The high pantothenic acid content is also said to have a soothing effect. Olive oil also demonstrates its benefits at night. When the skin is working at full capacity, extracts from olive leaves promote collagen synthesis and cellular metabolism. This can result in improved skin elasticity, making the skin more resilient and robust.
